Open For Business:

Besides the stunning environment, the major element of this new world is the Business feature!! Finally after so many years of waiting it is possible to enjoy the return of the Open For Business version on The Sims 3. I am sure you are all very excited about this! Nevertheless, mind that things are slightly different in The Sims 3.  While in The Sims 2 the gamer was able to sell anything (even the crafted materials), in The Sims 3 that is not possible anymore.  Also, the “restocking” option that was in The Sims 2 Open For Business it has not been included in this version, meaning that your merchandise will not disappear when bought.  However, anything that has not been crafted by your Sims, and that can be placed on the Savvy Seller’s Rug, shelves, and pedestals (part of the Savvy Seller Set) can be sold. Keep in mind that when you are in build and buy mode on a “hangout” lot, you cannot purchase certain objects like a stove, but if you buy it in your family lot and then place it in your family inventory you can then place it in the “hangout” lot (the place where you choose to open your business) from your inventory were it can now be sold.

SAVVY SELLER SET:

  • 5 Rugs (there are 5 different sizes from biggest to smallest, and whatever you place on them you can sell)

  • Shelf (to place your smaller goodies)

  •  Pedestal (on this you can place your goodies as well)

  • Cash Register

  •  Car Space(to place the cars that you wish to sell. It looks like the regular car space, nothing special or different about it)

  • Shop Door (you do not necessarily need a door. The door is there only to set the time of opening and closing of your store)

How to open  and manage a business

There are two different ways to open a business. One is that of purchasing a property through cellphone, telephone, and computers. The other is that of buying it by clicking on either a property for sell, or one already initiated and selecting “Purchase.” You can set the name of your shop by clicking on the door of your building or through the computer.
It is fairly easy to manage your shop. Like I said before there is no restocking option, therefore all you have to do is place your merchandise on rugs, shelves, and pedestals. The register, however, is very important. Through the register you can hire or fire your sales clerk, set the lot hours, tend it (your Sim simply stands behind the cash register). In order to collect money from your shop all you have to do is click on the shop and "Collect" the money, or use the computer.

Editor's thoughts

Is Midnight Hollow worth 2,500 simpoints? Or  even 3,900 simpoints? The answer is yes! In my opinion the release of the Business feature in a new world is a great gift from the The Sims franchising.  Just think about it, for 2,500 simpoints you get a new world, new content, and a new game feature! That is more than worth its value, and all that you have to spend is “simpoints.’ Even though it is actually worth $40 for the gold version, if you have been a savvy saver of simpoints like me, you should be getting Midnight Hollow “basically” for free. I think this was a nice move on the part of The Sims 3 creators. However, if you do not like dark themes, save your simpoints for something different. In regard to Midnight Hollow’s content, well, I did not purchase the Gold version only because I am planning on spend all of my husband’s money on The Sims 4 saga…  So you know, I am saving a little for the infinite love that I feel for him (chuckles). Although, if I would have to suggest what you should do, I would say you could definitely go with the Gold Version, for I think the toy factory and what comes with it are really nice extra content that I kinda wish I had to.

Well, that is all from Simszine on the Midnight Hollow Review. Happy simming everyone!!
